Hi Charulatha, I’m so glad you read Orbital! That’s the way I felt about it as well. I may have to purchase the print copy (I typically read on my Kindle).
Ramyan Vivekekanandan: You have a deeply insightful, poetic, beautiful spirituality -- All humanity is one.
The ideals were set out by the greatest Statesman living during my 77 years: Eleanor Roosevelt.
Eleanor Roosevelt was an even greater Statesman than FDR.
Eleanor Roosevelt penned the Declaration of Human Rights for the newly formed United Nations.
America is returning to roots of anti- First-Nation (whom European settlers decimated), Jim Crow, and the Know-Nothing Party of the 1850s.
After I lived through the Civil Rights Movement -- the Great Moral Movement of Our Time -- it is agonizing to see America turn towards white-supremacy.
Germany had the Spirit of Universal Human Unity as embodied in Friedrich Schiller's Poem, "An die Freude" (Ode to Joy), and as sung in the last movement of the Ninth Symphony of Beethoven.
And yet the Arian-hysteria of Adolf Hitler took over.
The absurdity of the fake-science is shown even in the roots "Arian" -- the root word of which is "Iran". Now, Iran, Persia has a great and beautiful historical culture.
Iran was in the end among the Peoples tolerant of their Jewish minorities, as there is praise in the Tanakh for Cyrus.
So, to build a mania based on mythical racial "purity" -- extermination of all others -- they linked Germany to Iran, which the average Prussian gave no thought to, and which belies the hatred towards the Jews.
And Trump, Vance and Musk want Germans to embrace the "AfD" (Alternative für Deutschland -- "Alternative for Germany"), when the AfD Leaders EXCUSE the terrors and war-crimes of the SS and the Third Reich.

We need to listen to the Great Moral Movement of Our Time -- The Great Civil Rights Movement.
We need to return to the principles of Eleanor Roosevelt.
We need the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
You are a wonderful person, and I love to read your work.
Armand! I so love reading you - you're always so full of knowledge and wisdom. Thank you for reminding us about the rich humanitarian tradition that precedes us. And thank you as ever for your kind words!
Such a beautiful essay, graced by the art and "Orbital" quotes. I'm saving this post, you give me hope that our universal humanity is destined to survive any tyrants. I love the view from above and through history of UNESCO. Thank you Ramya.
May we find the together again -- so beautiful! Thank you for this piece.
Belated thanks, Ann! Not sure how I missed your kind comment. I'm trying to hold on to these sentiments in spite of what's going on around us.
We need to hold on to our humanity and connection, Ramya, and rebuild around them. I believe that we will. I hope you continue to feel them.
This is a powerful piece Ramya! Thanks for sharing this with me. We are not alone. We are intricately linked together.
Thank you so much, Julie! I appreciate very much your reading and sharing. As writers, I think we can do a lot to spread this message.
I read the book and it is one of the best reads of all.times. One that deserves being returned to. Thank you.
